What My Sister Thinks About ME!!

Something that I find it interesting to share with everyone…the short paragraph below is how my sister describes me on our family blog…hai… here it goes…

Starting with ah jiun (my Chinese name) :
Our dear mei mei joined fitness first (something like California fitness) about 2 wks ago. Day1, she happily went to one of the fitness class, same goes for day 2.... But when day 3 arrived...

EVERYTHING CHANGES~

She has to stop exercising for 3 wks.

Reason?

After 3 days of exercise, she had torn her 'L... (I dunno how to spell the term and she refused to explain to me.... some muscle I assumed). (It was L.I.G.A.M.E.N.T by the way…not a muscle!)

That was news NO.1 about our meimei

Second News...

She is officially gaining weight. AH JIUN is a white-bread (basically FLOUR) addict. One loaf of bread in our house can (AT MOST) last for 4 days because most of the time, we can finish all of them in 2 days time!I am not lying! Even she herself admits that she is gaining weight. Normally when people start gaining weight, they try to get into a diet. Well, our dear sister did try going on a diet. She asked me to cook less for dinner and eat fruits during movies. A healthy, no junk food diet plan!

However.... guess how long it last???

For a person who can never resist snacks temptation, ah jiun diet plan officially lasted for 3 days. Her marketing technique was good though. By day 3, everybody has known about this short-lived diet of hers.
That’s about all the news worthy information about Ah jiun. Honestly, she is not a very interesting person. Her life is her bedroom. She sleeps on her bed and study on her bed. Her only and favourite pastime involves searching the internet for more cartoons. (Its anime, well I guess it really doesn’t make a difference hee :) )
She does not know where the sugar is kept and has no idea that our house has Milo cereal (even though it has been in the kitchen for months!). One morning, when my friend was eating cereal in our house, she asked, “OHH Milo cereal! Where did u get it!!?” >.<

It’s embarrassed to admit but it's entirely true! Oh well what more can I say? My sister understands ME hahahahahha: P

The Beauty of Art (musical-Miss Saigon)

Miss Saigon, a true legend…
Musical is an art, talent and skill….
No word could be used to express the feeling that one gets through experiencing the incredulity of music…
I was captivated by the beauty of their voice. It was not just a sound. Within that simple tune, there were emotions, countless of emotions that could not be expressed through speech and it’s all shown so clearly through the voice of music.
There were no judgment made, no discriminating, no criticizing… people who were there, purely wanted to enjoy the artistry of musical.
I was mesmerized the instant those melodies reached my ears, “ah…how beautiful was that…” was my first thought. Up until now, I never appreciate the exquisiteness of art. It never occurred to me that a piece of composition could bring out such meaningful story.

Today I had discovered something… something that is precious yet priceless. I have learnt to appreciate the beauty of arts. It leads me to places, stories and feeling I never understood before…through them I experience all the wonders and fantasy that could last me a life time :)

Steve Irwin Anniversary

It’s been a year since we last saw our world greatest
o Naturalist
o Zoologist
o Conservationist
o Television Personality

Steve Irwin…… On September 4, 2006, Irwin was fatally stabbed in the chest by a stingray spine while snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, at Batt Reef, which is located off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland. Irwin was in the area filming his own documentary, Ocean’s Deadliest, but weather had stalled filming. Irwin decided to take the opportunity to film some shallow water shots for a segment in the television program his daughter Bindi was hosting, when, according to his friend and colleague, John Stainton, he swam too close to one of the stingrays. “He came on top of the stingray and the stingray’s barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart,” said Stainton, who was on board Irwin’s boat the Croc One.
During the time when Steve was still around, he was very concerned with the protection of endangered animals and problems related to deforestation which resulted in massive loss of habitat. He considered conservation to be the most important part for his career. Steve Irwin was a passionate conservationist and believed in promoting
environmentalism by sharing his excitement about the natural world with people all over the planet.

Throughout his lifespan he was trying to inspire people into believing that we, humans can play a big part in helping wildlife and that the purpose of our existence is to protect the nature instead of destroying it. He had urged people to take part in considerate tourism and not support illegal poaching
through the purchase of items such as turtle shells or shark-fin soup.
I personally feel that Steve’s plays a big role in emphasizing the current situation about wildlife to us. If it wasn’t for him, the situation for those animals might be far worse than what we could expect. If it wasn’t for him to raise the concern about the present situation, many more lives would be destroyed. For that reason, I feel that, we should all give our respect to Steve and not forget all the amazing things that he had done. Because of all the hard work that Steve had done, our world is gradually changing for the better. Steve had granted us a good beginning to conservation and I feel that it is now our turn to continue this believe and end it with a pleasant ending.

IS IT RIGHT TO HUNT?

Hunting is an activities created by our ancestors a long time ago. The purpose of it is to prevent the extinction of humans being. A part of me was grateful for our smartness but the other side of me says otherwise…

Hunting is still an event that is being practiced by human nowadays, but the purpose of it had long evolved into, simply, for the money that is gain from those killed animals or just purely for the pleasure while doing the process.
I could still remember… a couple of weeks back, my friends and I was having some short conversations while waiting for our lecturer to arrive, this is how the conversation goes…

Girl A: so did you do anything interesting last weekend?
Boy A: I went hunting…
(Group woo-ing)
Girl B: wow that’s so cool!
Girl A: so did you gun down anything?
Boy A: yeah! I shot some birds and a dog!
Girl B: wow, how to you feel?
Boy A: OH it was awesome!

Disbelieved with the conversation that we were having, I kept silence. Did he just said “it was awesome?” this was the thought that pass through my mind while my friends continued on to the next topic.

It was then that I realized that human really is an omnivore. Is it really natural instinct that hunting makes our mind and body thrill? I can never…no… I will never want to understand the feeling behind those callous actions! Taking away lives to keep me thrilled and entertained, it is just pure cruelness!
In addition to that, not only do people hunt for pleasure, the main factor that has put numerous animals into the ‘endangered species list’ within these couple of years is due to the fact that increasing number of people hunt for their body part. Skin, horn, fur…you name it… those hunters were blinded by the amount of money they gain from the kill that they had long forgotten about the inhumanness behind it. Is human being really such a barbaric creature?

It is challenging for me in trying to convince people into changing their mindset. Deep within me, I know that having this naïve idea of believing that, ‘maybe my writing is going to make a difference about how people act and behave’, is going to be nothing more than another pointless attempt. Anyone who had tried to persuade others into doing something outré will understand my feeling. This is a fact that i had comprehened a long time ago. I am no one. I’m neither famous nor outstanding...i am really just an ordinary girl…so why should people listen to me? What right do i have or in whose position do i think i am to have these thinking that I might make a difference?
Regardless of all these queries, if I could just make an exception to one person…even if it is just a mere 0.001% chance of me being able to alter a being, that's all it takes for me to give my best shot.

Think about what Steve Irwin, the world greatest wildlife warrior, was trying to express? He went through miles of journey to show the world the amusingness of wildlife, trying hard to abridge the gap between human and other animals, trying to bring across the message that, if you look carefully, we are actually just like any other animals living on this planet! All we are trying to do is just to live our lives to the fullest. Is this a good enough reason to lead us to the elimination of the rest to ensure that we are always the superior one? The answer is simple…no, because, like us, they are giving their best to achieve the same goal. Trying their best to stay alive; trying to survive! To be short, what I’m trying to bring across is that, there will not be any good enough reasons for us to hunt animals.

We cried and mourned after receiving the news about Steve's mishap. We were sad because he was always seemed to be the image representing the wildlife. With his presence, somehow it feels like there is a gleam of hope for the wildlife. The news of his death is almost as if saying that the lifespan of wildlife is soon to be coming to an end.

We were heartbroken when our world greatest hero die. Instead of grieving for him and can do nothing about what had already occurred, why don’t we hold ourselves together and try to fulfil his passion for animals and make this world a more welcoming place to live in?

IF THE BUYING STOPS, THE KILLING WILL TOO!
